On 21 January 2026, an online coordination meeting was held, attended by representatives of the UNEP/GRID-Warsaw Centre, the Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Centre for Migration Research at the University of Warsaw, the Institute for Geoinformation Technology in Heidelberg, and the German Aerospace Centre. The participants presented selected research areas and preliminary results of the analysis of data from the Sentinel-2 satellite. Information obtained during discussions with Kenyan partner Samuel provided valuable insights into Machakos County – its population, climate, topography, agricultural practices and migration trends related to Nairobi. The team also reviewed communication materials, including the project website and logo.
